Chris Davies, Chief Executive Officer of TelstraSuper, has been awarded the 2019 Fund Executive Association Limited (FEAL) Fund Executive of the Year.
The annual award, which is in its 18th year and is sponsored by AMP Capital, recognises a fund executive who has made an outstanding contribution to their fund and the superannuation industry.
At a dinner attended by more than 170 industry guests at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne on Wednesday evening, Mr Davies was named the 2019 recipient of the award for his contribution in areas including digital innovation, corporate strategy and industry leadership.
Chris’ outstanding leadership of TelstraSuper and contribution to the industry over several decades makes him the perfect recipient for this award. His passion for digital innovation in particular has helped members become more engaged with their superannuation and goals for retirement. - Marsha Beck, Managing Director of AMP Capital in Australia.
Mr Davies has been the Chief Executive Officer of TelstraSuper since October 2013. TelstraSuper manages more than $21 billion on behalf of 92,000 members.
Mr Davies has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services and is an advocate for innovation in the superannuation industry. He is a board member of ASFA and is the Chair of ASFA’s Super System Design Policy Council as well as a number of other ASFA Committees. Chris is also a member of the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal Advisory Council.

The recipient of the Fund Executive of the Year Award receives an education grant of $25,000 made possible with the generous support of AMP Capital. The education grant has enabled previous award recipients to attend executive education programs at world-renowned business schools including Harvard, IMD, INSEAD, London Business School and Wharton. This important award recognises one fund executive who has made an outstanding contribution to their fund and the superannuation industry. Award nominees are judged on the following criteria:
