By AMP Capital media team

AMP Capital today announced Carrick Lucas has been appointed to the role of Fixed Income Analyst, effective 15 January 2019.

Based in Wellington, Mr Lucas will be supporting the New Zealand Fixed Income team in the active management of cash and fixed income portfolios. This includes utilising tools to enhance portfolio construction and conducting analysis to help drive the team’s research capability and fixed income strategy, particularly across rates and higher grade credit to identify new investment opportunities.

Mr Lucas joins from Kiwibank, where he was Portfolio & Liquidity Manager since 2014. Prior, he spent three years as an interest rate strategist with ANZ, as well as other roles in New Zealand and overseas including the OECD, Alliance Bernstein and the RBNZ. Mr Lucas graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Commerce and is a CFA Charterholder.

AMP Capital Head of Fixed Income Vicky Hyde-Smith said she is pleased such an experienced candidate is joining the New Zealand business.

“I am delighted to announce Carrick is joining our team as Fixed Income Analyst,” Ms Hyde-Smith said.

“Carrick has over 20 years’ industry experience with significant expertise across economics and fixed income. Filling this position with someone of his calibre is key to ensuring the New Zealand Fixed Income team continues to deliver strong performance outcomes for our clients.”

AMP Capital has broadened the responsibilities of the Fixed Income Analyst role to provide an increased focus on the overall fixed income capability.

Ms Hyde-Smith added: “A combination of regulatory changes and growth in assets, particularly from life insurance clients, has increased the demands on our fixed income team.

“This re-scoped position recognises our commitment to work with clients to deliver exceptional investment solutions for our clients, and complements the skills of AMP Capital’s well-recognised Fixed Income team of Warren Potter, Tim Mowbray and myself. I look forward to welcoming Carrick in the new year”.
