VicSuper Chief Executive Officer Michael Dundon has been named the winner of the Fund Executive Association Limited (FEAL) Fund Executive of the Year award, continuing a legacy of recognising outstanding superannuation leadership.
The 15th annual Fund Executive of the Year award was presented last night at a FEAL members’ dinner at the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney. The award recognises a fund executive who has made an outstanding contribution to their employer and the superannuation industry, with nominees judged on criteria including innovation, leadership, exceeding expectations, demonstrated strategic planning and contribution to the market place.
Mr Dundon was recognised for overseeing the strong growth of VicSuper, the default fund for the Victorian public sector. VicSuper manages $16 billion on behalf of 240,000 members and approximately 25,000 participating employers.
AMP Capital Head of Institutional Business John Meagher said: “Michael has demonstrated remarkable leadership as CEO of VicSuper, bringing strong strategic vision to the management and direction of the organisation. He is an innovative leader who has contributed greatly not only to VicSuper but to the broader industry, too.”
Mr Dundon has been the CEO of VicSuper since 2011. Prior to this role he was CEO of ESSSuper and has also held the position of General Manager Finance at TRUenergy Australia. He has extensive experience in banking, funds management, life insurance, consumer lending and utilities organisation within Australia and South East Asia.
FEAL Chief Executive Officer Joanna Davison added: “Michael’s leadership of VicSuper stood out for us as an excellent example of solid and innovative management, delivered with diplomacy and with an emphasis on the continued development of his team. We were impressed with Michael’s focus on the needs and interests of members as evidenced by the delivery of an expanded product range to members of VicSuper. It’s an honour to name Michael the 15th annual Fund Executive of the Year.” Mr Dundon has been awarded a $25,000 executive education grant courtesy of AMP Capital, to be used at his choice of the world’s most renowned business schools.
Upon receiving the award, Mr Dundon said: “I feel greatly honoured to have won this award, and would like to thank my talented team at VicSuper as well as FEAL and AMP Capital.”
