Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Ethical Responsible Investing

At the heart of everything we do

Our ESG and responsible investing capabilities are a major part of who we are and what we stand for. We recognise that all investments we make have a purpose and a wider impact – and it’s up to us to help make it a positive one for our clients and the global markets and communities in which we invest.

We’re proud to be one of Australia’s largest and longest standing responsible investment managers. We’ve been integrating ESG factors into our business decisions for almost two decades. Through our teams of dedicated ESG specialists and range of investor initiatives, we’ve collaborated to help raise the performance bar on sustainability and ESG across global markets.

We are committed to making responsible investment decisions that benefit our clients.

ESG & Responsible Investment Philosophy

We believe an organisation’s environmental and social impacts, and quality of its corporate governance, directly influences its long-term success and sustainability. That’s why we’ve built a strong, overarching Responsible Investment Philosophy that ensures ESG factors are considered in all our decision-making and active ownership practices. In line with this Philosophy, we continue to evolve our thinking, approach and product offerings in order to continue to advocate better outcomes for our clients and society.

Governance & Active Ownership

We actively advocate for responsible practices through our own operations, investments, and industry initiatives. Our team of ESG specialists inform our active engagement with companies and assets on ESG topics. By directly communicating with company management and directors, we work to improve corporate governance standards, transparency, and disclosure on ESG issues that are important to our customers and society at large.

Integrating ESG across asset classes

As a long-standing signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) since April 2007, we continue to expand our approach to ESG integration across all major asset classes. Our clients benefit from integration techniques tailored across equities, direct real estate, infrastructure and fixed income.

Our Ethical Framework

In 2017, we extended our commitment to responsible investing by introducing an ethical framework and setting minimum standards for how we invest, including excluding companies and sectors on ethical grounds across our entire portfolio. With a clear ESG investment framework behind us, we've become a leader in responsible and ethical investing.
