How the fund works
The Fund is designed to meet the needs of investors with strong ethical and environmental, social & governance (‘ESG’) values, who also have wealth creation goals, and invests in a diversified portfolio of companies primarily listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
We invest in companies which we believe exhibit strong sustainability and (ESG) credentials, excluding those which do not align with certain ethical standards and or have poor ESG credentials. We implement an investment process based primarily on our ESG research, then hold them for the long term while actively engaging with management, with the aim of maximising long-term sustainable value.
The Fund aims to provide investment returns that outperform the Fund's performance benchmark (S&P/ASX 200 Accumulation Index) over the long term (typically 5 to 7 years). In addition, the Fund aims to have a carbon footprint that is 50% below its performance benchmark.
“We aim to create sustainable and long-term value for our clients and future generations through effective capital allocation and engagement.”Emily Woodland, Head of Sustainable Investment

We take a fundamental research approach which requires deep understanding of companies, their material internal ESG and external sustainability drivers and how these impact long-term value.
After applying our ethical screens, our research results are then implemented based on a company’s ESG sustainability risk score and we exclude, hold or overweight accordingly.
Located across Sydney and Hong Kong, we have one of Australia's largest in-house teams solely dedicated to ESG research.
|What is ethical investing?||What is ESG?|
|Ethical investment incorporates values-based decisions within the investment process, typically on the basis of certain moral considerations. This generally leads to the exclusion of certain stocks or sectors where a hard line is drawn with respect to misalignment with those values.||ESG integration is a dynamic and holistic assessment of the investment implications (either positive or negative) of a company exposure to certain intangible drivers of value. These drivers of intangible value are typically grouped into environmental, social and governance drivers.|
What are the key risks associated with the fund?

The Fund's risk level is based on the estimated number of negative annual returns for the Fund over any 20 year period and is not a complete assessment of the risks of investing in the Fund. For instance it does not detail what the size of a negative return could be or the potential for a positive return to be less than an investor may require to meet their objectives. Consequently, before choosing to invest or reinvest in the Fund, you should read the Fund's PDS and incorporated information and consider factors such as the likely investment return, the risks of investing and your investment time frame. Information about the methodology used for calculating the risk level is available here.
