AMP Capital today announced the formation of a new Public Markets business, encompassing its Listed Equities, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset Group (MAG) capabilities. With over A$140 billion in assets under management and 117 investment professionals, AMP Capital has brought these teams together as part of its strategy to build a world-class public markets capability.
Simon Warner has been appointed Global Head of Public Markets for AMP Capital. Having been with AMP Capital since 2007, Mr Warner is currently the Global Chief Investment Officer for the Fixed Income business.
On announcing the increased focus on the public markets strategy, AMP Capital CEO Adam Tindall commented: “Providing a dedicated focus on public markets will better help us deliver exceptional investment experiences for our clients.
“Simon is the right person to lead our public markets offering. He has done an outstanding job identifying and unlocking value for our clients and has demonstrated the strategic, systemic and enterprise thinking required for his new role as Global Head of Public Markets.
“The creation of a global public markets team aligns our capabilities to provide a holistic market offering, enabling us to deliver on our aspiration of becoming a global preeminent investment manager,” Mr Tindall said.
The interim leadership team for Public Markets includes:
- Simon Warner, as Global Head, will continue to manage the Fixed Income team.
- David Allen, Global CIO of Equities remains an integral member of the AMP Capital Leadership team and will report into Simon Warner.
- Sean Henaghan, Global CIO of MAG will be going on a long-anticipated 15-month sabbatical in March 2019, and his direct reports will be repointed into Simon Warner. Mr Henaghan will continue as a member of the AMP Capital Leadership team and will report to CEO Adam Tindall.
These changes are effective immediately, and the public markets leadership team structure is to be finalised by the end of November 2018.

Simon Warner biography
Simon Warner was appointed as Global Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income in March 2017. Before this he was Head of Global Fixed Income from 2014 to 2017. He joined AMP Capital in March 2007. Mr Warner is responsible for the management of AMP Capital’s active fixed income strategies including macro markets, credit markets, commercial lending and protected growth. With assets under management in excess of $55 billion, the Global Fixed Income team has more than 30 investment professionals in Sydney, Chicago, Hong Kong and Wellington.
Mr Warner was appointed to the board of AMP Capital Investors New Zealand Limited in July 2016. Mr Warner began his career with JP Morgan in London, later moving to Sydney and Singapore as Chief Investment Officer for Australasia. He holds an EMBA from New York University, HEC Paris and the London School of Economics, as well as Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
