AMP Capital appoints new Co-Head of New Zealand Fixed Income

By AMP Capital media team

AMP Capital today announced Vicky Hyde-Smith has been promoted to the role of Co-Head of New Zealand Fixed Income.

Alongside fellow Co-Head Grant Hassell, who is also AMP Capital New Zealand Managing Director, Ms Hyde-Smith will be responsible for delivering strong investment performance for fixed income investors. Ms Hyde-Smith has been promoted from the role of Senior Portfolio Manager for Fixed Income.

Ms Hyde-Smith joined AMP Capital New Zealand in 2001 as a Fixed Income Analyst. Her experience and strong analytical skills have led to Ms Hyde-Smith driving the strategy for the fixed income portfolios. Prior to joining AMP Capital, Ms Hyde-Smith gained global investment experience in the Japanese fixed income market when she joined the proprietary trading team at Sumitomo Finance in London in 1996.

AMP Capital New Zealand Managing Director Grant Hassell said he is pleased to recognise the strong internal talent within AMP Capital.

“I am excited to announce Vicky’s new role as Co-Head of the Fixed Income team,” Mr Hassell said.

“After working with Vicky closely during the last 15 years, her appointment is well deserved and represents a positive step towards ensuring the New Zealand Fixed Income team continues to deliver a strong performance for our clients.”

This new role is a result of a realignment of AMP Capital’s operating model where from the beginning of June 2016 all New Zealand teams (excluding Property) will report directly to Grant Hassell. Previously these teams reported through to their respective counterparts in Sydney.

Mr Hassell said: “This change to the operating model will ensure that we can be more focused on the outcomes for our New Zealand clients and for the New Zealand business.

“At the same time, the investment teams will still be fully aligned with their Australian counterparts to allow us to continue leveraging the skills of the broader global business.”
