Our Japan business has achieved an outstanding success in managing funds for retail investors in Japan. Funds under management sourced from Japan amounted to more than A$7 billion*, and we also participated in the launch of the first global REIT fund in Japan.
Our dedicated on the ground Japan team conducts marketing and sales activities to toshin companies and distributors such as banks and securities companies, offering tailored investment solutions to Japan retail investors.
As well as having a dedicated property business in Japan, the team also actively works with institutional investors such as public pension funds, corporate pension funds and financial institutions.

Toshiaki Yamashita
Managing Director, Japan (AMP Capital Investors KK)
Toshiaki Yamashita joined AMP Capital in July 2009 and is Managing Director for Japan. Mr Yamashita joined AMP Capital from Gemini Advisors Securities Investments, where he was Director, Head of Retail Business Japan, responsible for exclusively promoting AMP Capital to the Japanese market. Mr Yamashita has over 20 years experience in the investment management industry, having worked with a diverse range of international and domestic companies. Mr Yamashita holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, a Bachelor of Law from Kyoto University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is also a Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (CMA).

Daisuke Imaeda
Head of Institutional Business, Japan (AMP Capital Investors KK)
Daisuke Imaeda joined AMP Capital in March 2012 as the Head of Institutional Business. Mr Imaeda has dedicated his whole career to asset management business in various fields such as sales, marketing, and business development since 1989. Mr Imaeda has introduced and implemented to Japanese institutional audience a wide variety of traditional and alternative asset class investment capabilities and services from global perspective and has been responsible for client / relationship management of key clientele. Mr Imaeda holds L.L.B from Sophia University and M.A. from Aoyama Gakuin University, is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and a Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (CMA).

Hiroaki Iwasaki
Head of Retail Business, Japan (AMP Capital Investors KK)
Hiroaki Iwasaki joined AMP Capital in 2009 and is responsible for business development activities in Japan. Mr Iwasaki has over 15 years experience in the investment management industry with significant experience in product, sales and marketing strategy. Mr Iwasaki holds a Masters of Business Administration (Finance) from Hitotsubashi University and a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from Gakushuin University.
