Corporate governance
AMP Capital is at the forefront of corporate governance initiatives, both in our own operations and in our investment decision-making practices. We have a dedicated resource for this area, which monitors and engages with companies on key aspects of their corporate governance and submitting proxy votes on specific matters.
We work actively to improve governance standards and encourage responsible investment. We are involved with multiple programs both nationally and internationally:
- Member of the Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC)
- Signatory to the Carbon Disclosure Project
- Signatory to the United Nationals Principles of Responsible Investing (UNPRI)
- Registered under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act with the Australian Government Department of Climate Change
- Registered under the Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act with the Australian Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism
Our investments
To assist our clients in achieving the returns on their investments that they expect, we seek high standards of transparency, corporate governance and social responsibility from the companies whose securities we hold.
This involves monitoring and entering into dialogue with companies on key aspects of their corporate governance and their relationship with society as a whole. Engaging with companies through individual meetings and other correspondence is another important part of our commitment to good governance.
As a major owner and manager of property we are also proactive in the management of energy, waste and water, including on our own premises.
Through our sustainable funds we also have a specific focus of investing in industries of the future, which are companies expected to have future increased demand for their products or services.
